Hey ... what do you know? Another movie about exorcism. Unlike Exorcismus (2010), The Devil Inside is a film with the theme of exorcism, but he worked out a found footage films like The Blair Witch Project (1999) or the franchise Paranormal Activity (2009-2011) who was phenomenal - the two elements horror that has previously been successfully incorporated in Daniel Stamm's The Last Exorcism (2010). With the long duration of 87 minutes, just like horror movies the same theme, The Devil Inside spend his first part-time to provide an introductory character and presents a problem as well as some scenes are quite scary surprises. Unfortunately, when the film reaches the peak of the problem, The Devil Inside story actually goes to the reps who tend to be flat and the ending is so anti-climactic.
Basic conflict of the story of The Devil Inside himself narrated occurred in 1989, when a woman named Maria Rossi (Suzan Crowley), was arrested by police after killing three members of the church when they're trying to do an exorcism procession of Mary's body. Mary herself was later declared insane by the law, and by the intervention of the Catholic Church in Rome, Italy, and then taken and treated in a psychiatric hospital in the city. Twenty years later, Maria's daughter, Isabella (Fernanda Andrade), finally know the true story of his mother three days before the death of his father. Isabella and determined to meet Maria in Rome with his friend, Michael (Ionut Grama), who will film the entire event.
Arriving in Rome, Isabella and Michael became acquainted with two young minister, Ben (Simon Quarterman) and David (Evan Helmuth). Ben and David are two of the ministers who believe in religious processions exorcism and guerrilla aid to people in need of exorcism unnoticed by the Catholic Church which has banned the activities of exorcism without their knowledge. Through Ben and David, Isabella and ask for help so that they would analyze and help his mother. A process that would later become the most terrifying moment that they had experienced in their lifetime.
Not much can be offered The Devil Inside story if judging from the script. Written by director William Brent Bell, along with Matthew Peterman, The Devil Inside story manuscript contains a row of standard formulas is still a film with the theme of the procession of exorcism. That makes The Devil Inside still manages to look decent enough to be enjoyed is the ability of Bell to process scenes that have the potential to shock and scare the audience. Instead of presenting the figure of the devil who possessed his victims - and a row of sound effects that possessed distinctive character - Bell would prefer to present the pain of those who possessed such a visualization is as natural as possible. The result, more viewers may feel the horror that is delivered to the storyline of this movie.
The Devil Inside starting to look a little tiring when the script of the film is trying to add complexity to the scenario presented by the repetition of cases of demonic possession that befell some of its main characters. The scene that initially contain enough ammunition to give the audience a sense of horror at the end it was bland and flat when presented repeatedly and without handling a strong storyline. This was coupled with the election ending story that is so hung and anti-climax. Audience that expects to get a clear ending to the story and the firm will obviously feel very disappointed with the ending to the story presented by The Devil Inside.
There is nothing special about the acting performances presented by the cast of The Devil Inside line. Did not disappoint, although the cast of characters Isabella, Fernanda Andrade, occasionally still looks stiff and awkward in appearance. Among the department's acting fillers, Suzan Crowley, who plays the character of Maria Rossi who possessed perhaps the most powerful actress looks. Crowley is able to convincingly give the appearance of female figure with a personality that "disturbing" both vocal and body movement. Crowley looks very scary!
Unfortunately, there is nothing special from The Devil Inside. Film directed by William Brent Bell appears similar to many other films of the same themes, but presents his story through the method of found footage. The ability of Bell to present some suspenseful scenes were the only thing that is still able to make The Devil Inside occasionally managed to meet the expectations of the audience to get the dish a frightening story. The rest? The Devil Inside is often present too flat with the presentation of a story that has been repeatedly dieskpos by many Hollywood horror films.
